About ARU

Africa Renewal University began in January 2007 as Gaba Bible Institute but the story goes back a bit further than that.

ARU was founded by Pastor Peter Kasirivu, the Senior Pastor of Gaba Community Church and President of Africa Renewal Ministries (ARM). Each year Gaba Community Church hosts a number of Pastors conferences and trainings and the cry of the church leaders was always the same "help us receive training for ministry!" So in 2006 ARM started a Mobile Pastoral Training program in Rakai, Gulu, Rukungiri and Soroti with 50 pastors at each site. The program was so effective that they soon saw the need for a permanent bible college.

In January 2007 35 students arrived at ARU from 3 African nations. Gradually the school out grew the two-storied rented house in Gaba and was able to purchase an 18 acre campus in Buloba with a capacity for 300 students. In 2010 ARU received accreditation from the National Council for Higher Education in Uganda to offer Certificate and Diplomas.

ARU is currently in the process applying to offer Bachelors Degrees with programs for church leaders (Theology, Ministry, Worship Leading) and programs for leaders in Christian ministries and organizations (Child Development, Social Work, Disability Studies, Community Development, Community Health).

Our focus is to continually equip Christian leaders for the transformation of society.

Today there are over 200 alumni serving in 9 African nations and a growing student body of over 175 students.
